Dorothy "Dot" Edwards started doing mosaics in 1982 but only became seriously involved in using this medium since year 2000. Dot had moved from Houston, TX to Sacramento, CA and had too much time on her hands. She picked up the nippers and started creating.
Dot is a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA) and the owner of the Mosaic_California Yahoo group. Dot has participated in shows through the Institute of Mosaic Art (www.instituteofmosaicart.com), My Atlantis, and her primary gallery, The Phoenix Gallery in Sacramento (www.phoneixinsac.com). Dot has studied with California mosaic artists Laurel Skye, Ellen Blakeley and other classes at the Institute of Mosaic Art.
Much of her inspiration comes from her Catholic faith, incorporating Christian symbols into her art and also creating geometric and abstract designs.
Some pieces can be purchased directly from Dot, however, most pieces, when available for sale, can be purchased through: Phoenix Gallery & Framing, Phone/Fax: (916) 447-1632, 1801 L Street #211 Sacramento, CA 95814 (on 18th between K & L st.)
